Gallagher’s Workplace Risk specialism won recognition for exceptional performance in transforming a client’s safety culture, announced at the 2018 iCare Care and Service Excellence Awards gala dinner held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre on 13 November.

The iCare CASE Awards recognise and reward outstanding service delivery in the New South Wales workers’ compensation industry, acknowledging outstanding contributions organisations have made in their sectors.

Gallagher beat out four other finalists in the Excellence in Improving Employer Performance category:

The Gallagher team, led by National Head of Workplace Risk Vivienne Toll, helped the client company significantly reduce lost time injury frequency which was previously costing 500 days of work in any given year, due to injury or illness.

After the team’s work with the company over 18 months hazard reporting in the organisation increased by 95%.

After conducting a 10-day on the ground analysis the Gallagher team presented their findings to the client’s executives, highlighting the productivity deficit the lost time injury frequency was causing, and the need for legal compliance and due diligence.

C-suite support enabled a swift turnaround of workplace safety culture, with the executives expressing their appreciation to Gallagher in letters.

Toll says that the Gallagher approach to risk management and mitigation is what enables clients to transform their workplaces quickly and effectively.

“People have this idea that workplace health and safety is a mountain for an organisation to climb. They see red tape, piles of paperwork, complicated rules and legislation.

What we see is an aspect of a business operation that is open to innovation and contemporary thinking, and the ability to transform their culture and attitude towards workplace risk into something that truly enables their people to work more productively and be more forward thinking,” she says.

“For many of our clients it’s one of the reasons they choose Gallagher. In us they know they have a partner and team dedicated to making sure their organisation is building a safe and healthy workplace.”

Gallagher’s sister organisation Gallagher Bassett Workers’ Compensation team also won the award for the Outstanding Team – Care & Service category.
