On the weekend of the 19 & 20 May, 2017, five members of the Gallagher Adelaide team supported the Jodi Lee Foundation with one of their major fundraising events of the year - hiking 80km along the Heysen Trail to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer.
Martyn Luck, Ari Setton, Karl Stephens, Matt Thompson and Sonia Hine braced themselves to participate in the endurance event, designed to challenged you both physically and mentally. Although the terrain is fairly moderate, by the second day the team’s limits were being pushed by a number of challenging climbs and a long section of sandy beach.
The trek requires a medium to high level of fitness and shows that with the right preparation and attitude you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.
For the team this was also a personal mission, having had a number of family members pass away from cancer related illness. The day was a huge success and raised $190,089 in total towards saving lives by educating Australians about bowel cancer prevention.
Huge congratulations to the team for this outstanding contribution!
